This policy explains how we ship orders from Birch & Basalt Co. (birchandbasaltco.com). Most of our products are large and ship by freight (LTL) directly from the manufacturer.

Where we ship

We ship throughout the continental United States (lower 48 states). Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and international destinations may be available by request — please contact us for a quote before ordering

Shipping cost

We offer free standard (curbside) shipping to the lower 48 states on eligable orders. Premium delivery services — such as liftgate, threshold or inside delivery, and white-glove delivery — may be available for an additional charge at checkout or by request. 

Processing and handling time

Orders typically begin processing within 2-5 business days. In-stock items ship sooner; made-to-order or built-to-spec items require additional lead time. Differing with suppliers.

Estimated delivery time

Because items ship directly from the manufacturer and travel by freight, total time from order to delivery is typically 14-28 days, depending on the item and your location. These are estimates, not guarantees. Freight transit on its own is usually several business days once an item ships; the rest is manufacturer handling and delivery scheduling. We provide ranges rather than guaranteed dates because freight timelines vary. 

Freight delivery — what to expect

For large items, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment, and someone 18 or older must be present to receive and sign for the order. Standard (curbside) delivery brings the item to your curb or driveway; it does not include moving the item inside or unpacking it unless you have purchased an upgraded delivery service.

Inspect your order upon delivery

Before signing, inspect the packaging and item for damage. Note any damage on the delivery receipt or bill of lading, photograph it, and report it to us within 24 hours. Do not discard the packaging. See our Refund and Return Policy for how damage claims are handled.

Tracking

We will provide tracking information or carrier contact details once your order ships.

Address accuracy

Please make sure your shipping address and phone number are correct. We are not responsible for delays caused by incorrect information, and re-delivery or reconsignment fees may apply.

Delays and backorders

We are not responsible for delays outside our or the carrier's control, including weather, carrier backlogs, manufacturer stock issues, or other events beyond our reasonable control. If an item is unexpectedly delayed or backordered, we will notify you and discuss your options.
